WHAT: Autumn is around the corner which means it’s time for Woodland Park Zoo’s Fall Fecal Fest! Starting today, August 30, through September 17, gardening enthusiasts can apply online to win the chance to purchase the exotic, highly coveted Zoo Doo. Quantities will be available from 10 gallons to 100 gallons or by the truck load. Throughout the year, Dr. Doo, aka the “Princess of Poo,” the “GM of BM,” or the “Captain of Caca,” has been piling Zoo Doo and the compost is ready for fall planting. Perfect for growing veggies and annuals, the sweet, aromatic Zoo Doo is composed of species feces contributed by a variety of the zoo’s non-primate herbivores including rhinos, hippos, tapirs, pudus, mountain goats, giraffes, zebras and more. As a conservation organization, Woodland Park Zoo is committed to reducing its own ecological footprint and educating the community in doing the same. The Zoo Doo program is central to the zoo’s goal of increasing waste diversion from landfill and demonstrating closed loop approach to integrated resource management. HOW: From Monday, August 30 through Friday, September 17, enter online at zoo.org/fecalfest to win the chance to purchase Zoo Doo. Only one entry per person is eligible for each drawing. Entries will be randomly selected according to supply and demand. Dr. Doo will contact the lucky drawn entries only. Phone and mail orders cannot be accepted.
